Academics

Academic offerings are divided into 13 unique academic programs from which students have the opportunity choose approximately 35 different specialized career tracks. The school’s principal and most recognizable academic focus (a result of its orientation upon founding back in 1963) is in the area of business and office management, yet today the school has several other academic options in the areas of e-commerce, paralegal studies, computer science and more.

The practical, career-tracked outlook is complemented by its willingness to accommodate students’ busy lives and challenging circumstances; the school offers distance and online learning options in select programs as a result. There is even the option for nearby high school students to engage in the dual enrollment program and earn college credit before they have even graduated from high school. Some of the associate degrees offer the option of automatic transfer to Kentucky or out-of-state four-year colleges.

The academic accreditation is granted by the independent and not-for-profit Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.

Admissions

The college implements an open admissions policy whereby virtually all qualified candidates are accepted to the school (though not necessarily to their preferred program). The school has simple admissions requirements including possession of a high school diploma or GED and assessment in the form of placement tests (such test results do not determine acceptance or rejection, yet are used to help determine which level courses a newly admitted student will be able to enroll in).

Financial Aid

Students have access to a wide range of financial aid options, and the school participates in the Federal Title IV financial assistance programs through the US Department of Education. Given the school’s status as a career college, students are even more likely to be able to receive financial aid and the school is known for its active role in helping students secure funding for their studies. In a typical academic semester, over 80% of students receive some form of financial aid or another, with federal grants and student loans being the most predominant varieties of aid followed by institutional grants and finally state and local grants.

Students

The student body is small, with slightly fewer than 300 students being enrolled on a given semester. The vast majority (over 95%) of these students are enrolled on a full-time basis: of these, the vast majority also happens to be composed of in-state students. Women dominate the student body with a little over 80% of the total share, and Caucasians constitute more than 90% of the total, with African Americans being the next largest demographic.

There is no on-campus housing available, making all the students daily commuters to and from classes. The campus is located in a fairly large town setting (local population of over 55,000 inhabitants) however, so there is a high probability that students will be able to find a housing option close to campus that makes their studies that much more feasible.
