My daughter started UVA Wise this year (2009) after graduating Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County VA. She is an advanced student with a high level of academic motivation and achievement. She LOVES this college! The small size has allowed her to participate in many activities, both academic and recreational, that she may not have otherwise had the opportunity to do. She knows each of her professors (absolutely NO students teaching classes here!) and the classes are small. She was accepted in to 14 highly ranked schools but chose this one last minute. We are impressed with the school, the community, the town and all things UVA Wise that are making her college experience so positive. Residential Life is active and the halls are mostly new. The students have many activities to choose from on weekends.
