Today was graduation at TPAC..even though the committee organizing this event tried their best, they failed! My husband is a Vietnam Vet with MS and uses an electric wheelchair. Nobody on the committee was able to accomodate any special arrangements for him prior to this event (I tried!) and he had to wait from 10:00AM until 12PM for the doors to TPAC to open. Leaving this facility was NOT ADA compliant. You had an undergraduate student behind the stage who DID have special assistance. Not right. This was a total screw up that we ae not happy with. I was told that they did not know how to handle a situation like this and had to bring my spouse to TPAC at 10AM. He has MS and cannot tolerate heat. What a lack of coordination and I only hope that the UoP Nashville graduation committee has more educational skills as well as adherence to the 9 step problem solving model for American's with Disabilities Act! Today was supposed to be a celebration and it wound up to be a total screw up. Hope that they can learn for the future. Ask the committee...they were notified well in advance and still could not come through. Sorry situation that does not need to be repeated. We spent three hours doing what could have been accomplished in 30 minutes and even though a 10:15AM curdew was posted, people came in as late as 12:30 and allowed to participate regardless of the non-admittance if 'you are late policy'. That SUCKS. Farewell UoP. Killeen Tenpenny, MBA-HCM
