As an African-American Alum of Maryville College, I would like to note that I have never experienced any racism personally here. Sad that it is 2009 and there is racism still in the United States;however, Maryville takes pride in considering themselves a community and racist acts are not tolerated here.

From what I've heard, Maryville College can be racist. I am not sure how true that is, but ... I would not want to take the chance.

Both my parents and my sister attended and graduated from Maryville College; in '41,'42 and '73. Now at age 65 I'm looking into the possibility of studying for the ministry. Maryville was a beautiful college when I visited in '63 and I was impressed. Parents shared their experiences in their time; Beth in her time and I hope to have my own experiences of Maryville College.
