I attended the LPN program at this school in 09 and withdrew for medical reasons. Upon returning to finish the program, not only did I have to pay thousands more on top of the already approx. 30,000 for tuition, but was told I was coming back with a "clean slate". But later when a personal emergency arose, I was informed that I was on full probabtion and would be kicked out if I left to handle the emergency. So I stayed and maintained both my atendance and my acedemia, but during a mental health rotation at the VA hospital, I stated I did not want to wear a nametag with my real name on the front due to the nature of the mental illnesses of the various patients. I felt this was not an unreasonable request since there had been problems with this in the past. The instructor and I had words, no yelling, cussing, or anything of that nature, but heated words on both parties. Then I was suspended with no reason given, and two days later received a voicemail stating that I had been terminated from the program citing a violation of policy, but not which policy. I requested an immediate review before the board for immediate re-instatement, as I was only 12 weeks short of graduating. I believe there are some unfair and unethical practices being performed at this particular college. I will be seeking legal counsel at this point to try and finish my career, but feel that this was totally unneccesary and I shouldn't have to be placed under such undue stress and emotional, and financial trauma. I would not recommend this school to anyone. I don't believe their in-house rules are being regulated by the board of education as they should be, and there is apparently no HR department, because just about every one of my right's was violated in the course of this termination. Platt's own policy states the student as their number one priority, but they go against that policy every day with the strict and at times, strange rules inflicted on the students. There is no regard for the student as stated in platt's policy manual.

I attended Platt College in 2000 - 2001 and completed the Drafting & Design program (I don't think they even have that anymore). I was told in admissions that I would have an associate's degree when I was finished and that the credits would be transferable to any other college when I went to get my bachelor's. I found out over halfway through the program (after it was too late to drop out without still having to pay back the student loans) that it was all a lie. So I completed the program. I was working full time and there were days I had to work late and I missed a few classes. I asked my (night) instructor two months before I was due to graduate if I would have enough hours. He said yes, just don't miss any more days. So I didn't. Two WEEKS before I was supposed to graduate, the new daytime instructor (the old one was fired) took me aside, handed me a cigarette before he started talking (not a good sign!) and told me he knew what I had been told and he was very sorry, but I would have to go an extra 8 days if I wanted to graduate. Apparently the day instructor that was fired had falsified his attendance records, including putting students down as having been in class on days when it was closed for bad weather, and the records of a lot of students including myself had to be readjusted. So they made me pay an extra $468 to go for 8 days. The admissions people gave me a new contract to sign and messed up the rate. They gave me the higher daytime rate. When I figured this out after talking to another night student with the same problem, they corrected it - by taking out my ORIGINAL contract from when I first signed up, making a copy of it, putting white-out over certain parts and having me initial it at the bottom next to my signature. I'm not even sure that's legal!! It still had the old dates on it. To add insult to injury, the $468 extra I had to pay was supposed to be paid through the National Loan Servicing Center. I made $300 worth of payments on it and was never late. About a week after I made the last payment I sent them (still owed $168) I started getting phone calls from a collections attorney named Patricia Dearing from Metairie, LA. Google her sometime. She's basically a scam artist. She was incredibly rude on the phone and flat out called me a liar when I told her I had made $300 in payments. I told her I could give her a print out of my online account from NLSC showing I had paid it as well as bank statements and photo copies that showed the checks had cleared. She said "well, IF you can really produce such documents, I'd love to see them". So I faxed them to her. She called me back (in a totally different tone, mind you) and apologized. She said she'd call the NLSC people and find out what's going on. I got a call back from her a couple of days later and she said that they didn't know where my money went, but the school never got it, so unfortunately my only option was to PAY IT ALL OVER AGAIN. Oh no. I think not. I told her it is the responsibility of her and the school to find out where the money went, I'm not paying it again. I'd gladly send her a check for the other $168 I owed (and I did), but I'm not paying the $300 over again. She kept harassing me. In 2002 I filed bankruptcy because of my ex and some credit cards he used and refused to pay for (stupidity on my part) and since Ms. Dearing and Platt were still demanding I pay the $300 over again, I was obligated to contact them and tell them that I was filing bankruptcy. I told the lady in their finance office and I also informed her for a second time that I had already given Ms. Dearing copies of the paperwork proving that I had paid it and I offered to bring her a copy too. She said no, she'd get it from Ms. Dearing, but as far as they were concerned, I still owed the $300 and she said "If you file bankruptcy on this, I can absolutely promise you that you will NEVER get a diploma, a copy of your transcript, or any proof whatsoever that you ever went to school here". I guess it's a good thing that I keep copies of everything. She wasn't kidding. I never got a copy of my diploma and I tried to get my transcript and they hung up on me. That was 7 years ago, so I think I'm going to try it again and see what happens. But I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone. If anyone ever does start a class action suit, please email me.

I attended Platt College in 2005 and I completed the Dental Assisting program. My total tuition for only 7 1/2 month was around $8,000.00. We were assured before enrolling that we would make no less than $16.00 and hour with all of the wonderful training we would receive from Platt College. After graduation not one person made over $11.00 an hour. Most girls made $8-$10 an hour. The instructors were less than proffessional. (many days missed) We spent many "free" days doing crossword puzzles due to the instuctors being absent. I am still close with many of the girls I graduated with and we have often spoken of a class action lawsuit against Platt. We do not have the time or money to invest in lawyers and expenses for this. Yes we learned our tooth numbers and the names of the instruments. That took a total of about two weeks. Where did the rest of our $8,000.00 go? I also know that at least one instructor was paid $12.00 an hour. How could they assure us that we would be making no less than $16.00 an hour when they themselves made a signifigantly lesser amount? Platt college preys on young people by building a fantasy world of decent pay that simply does not exsist. I would NEVER reccomend this "school" to ANYONE.
