I am a previous student and graduate from the Academy of Nails,Skin and Hair and found that my experience at this school horrific. Unfortunately due to living in such a rural state and city, the options for cosmetology school are slim pickins. The Academy is owned by three sisters, whom all try to portray themselves to be upstanding christian women. Having gone to school and grown up with most of their children, I know what kind of people they really are. I find it disappointing that they have the opportunity to make such a difference in peoples lives and really have a good, positive impact upon others, and yet they choose to be rude, uptight racist and extremely arrogant. The treatment that I received from the owners and the staff there was far from fair. Favortism is prevailant in the school. Meaning, if you can afford to pay for your tuition in full, you're in you're golden and man will they kiss your *** to the high heavens. However if you are in need of financial aid, don't expect them to get right on it. More students than I can remember had never had so much difficulty getting the owners, particularly Bernadette (forgot her last name) and Brenda Zimmerer to make that a priority for them. Skin color of course always makes a difference too. I, fortunately, have fair colored skin, but had a few "brownies" in my class and in following classes and saw that they were noticably treated worse. Brenda and Juanita Mase were the main culprets here. Now I really could go on for days, recalling all the incidents, but I am sure that anyone who has gone there can second this comment and if not, then consider yourself a lucky one!
