American Institute of Beauty in Largo, Florida has proven to be an enormous waste of time and money. I transferred from another school of cosmetology that I was attending, funded by a Pell Grant, to AIB where the grant could not be used. I feel that all I have to show for my experience at AIB is the huge debt that I now have for my ‘education’. The instructors seemed to be more interested in making friends with some of the students than they were in assisting the students that truly needed assistance. They were indifferent, impatient and condescending when I had questions regarding a styling procedure. The impression that I was left with is that they expected you to have all the answers on your own rather than bother them by asking them to do the job that you are paying them to do. If a student had all the answers they would not need to attend a school like AIB. I feel that attending American Institute of Beauty was a waste of time and money. I left there feeling like I had not learned any more than I had learned at the other institution that I had attended and only owing a lot more money for the ‘privilege’ of having attended their school. Hindsight being 20/20, I now realize that I should have stayed in my original school where I was actually being taught rather than transfer to AIB where I was processed for what they could charge for a very limited amount of education. It’s my opinion that everything I owe to AIB was money ill-spent. I cannot recommend this school to anyone who seriously wants an education in cosmetology.

I went to AIB for services. I was getting a permanent. It was the worst experience I ever encounter. It took 3 hours for the completion of the process. The student that did my hair told me she only had 300 more hours of school left, well let me tell you, unless she is taught mor at AIB, she will never pass the state board exam. I am a former cosmotolisgist, so I know the process. If I were her, I would find another school to get her education.
