Manchester Community College Academics

Manchester Community College (MCC) offers more that 90 degrees and certificates. MCC is also the largest of the state community colleges and sees nearly 6,000 students walk through its doors every year.

Manchester offers many degrees and certificates in a variety of fields including graphic design, computer network technology and communication in seven areas of study.

The Business degree at MCC is situated for students looking to take courses in accounting, business administration, and marketing. Students may choose a business degree with an entrepreneurship option that prepares graduates who want to start their own business.

There is also an Engineering and Technology department at MCC that offers classes in computer science, engineering science and technology studies. The technology studies degree has track options in industrial, electronics and CAD technology. The Technology Studies Associates degree is a program that is partnered with the Connecticut College of Technology Pathways program that allows students to take their courses at Manchester.

The Social Service Associates degree is designed for students who want diverse employment opportunities. Options include criminal justice and early childhood education.

Certificate Programs include medical insurance specialist, computer maintenance technology and gerontology.

MCC also offers online classes and flexible continuing education courses designed for working adults.

Manchester Community College is accredited by the Board of Governors for Higher Education and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Manchester Community College Students

Manchester Community College was founded in 1963 in Manchester, Connecticut. The campus of MCC is located on 160 acres consisting of large wooded areas and open spaces.

There are three relatively known buildings on campus; The Learning Resource Center, the Arts, Sciences and Technologies Center and the Frederick Lowe Building. The college’s courtyard is known as “The Village” and houses the musical arts program.

The Hans Weiss Newspace Gallery and fine arts studio is on the campus of MCC.

There are more than 35 student clubs on campus including business organizations and an Internet radio station.

The Fitness Center at MCC is open to all students and offers weight training facilities as well as courses in kickboxing and fencing.

MCC offers four sports teams with intercollegiate programs. These include men and women’s soccer, men’s baseball and women’s basketball.

The “Cougars” compete in Region 21 of the NJCAA.
