Marymount College Introduction
Marymount College Palos Verdes was founded in 1935 in Los Angeles, and moved in 1960 to the present site of the Salvation Army’s Crestmont College as a four year, then 2-year college. In 1975, the College sold that site (now Rancho Palos Verdes) and moved to another Rancho Palos Verdes site as a 2-year private liberal arts college where they are today. Marymount College recently has made major academic program changes and has introduced a 4-year Bachelor of Arts Program in addition to its ongoing Associate Degree Program that has been certified by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Senior Division in 2010. The College has obtained approval for its Marymount Expansion Project in June of 2010, and has implemented its BA program starting with the Fall 2010 term. Total undergraduate enrollment is now near maximum allowed of 793 (AA + BA) and new additions to facilities have included introduction of off-site College classes in nearby San Pedro. I suggest that you review the college website www.marymountpv.edu for additional details. No construction or permits for the Expansion Project have been taken out and the College has prepared a 50 year Master Plan for its San Pedro site facilities to the LA City Planning Department in late May of 2011, and on September 15, 2011 has publicly proposed a 20 year Plan for its RPV campus that, if approved, would restructure the current approved 8 year, 3 Phase approved Plan yet to be activated.
